TED House Band from 2008

As there was no TED House Band this year, and many people told me they missed us, I decided to post a single MP3 of the pieces we played in 2008. Thanks to all who enjoyed it while it was posted!

Here’s the running order:

Mocha Swing (originally performed by Quadro Nuevo)
Tubas In The Moonlight (originally performed by The Bonzos)
Hello Cruel World (sung by Rachelle Garniez)
War Games (originally performed by Special AKA)
Somewhere Over The Rainbow
I’ve See That Face Before (originally performed by Grace Jones)
Hell I’d Go (originally performed by Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks)
Pre-Post Apocalypse (sung by Rachelle Garniez and others)
The Canyons Of Your Mind (originally performed by The Bonzos)
La Bombe D’Amour (Cajun cover of Whole Lotta Love feat. Kaki King))
We’ll Meet again (feat. Vusi Mahlasela, Nellie MacKay)

Now I can feel like I’m sitting at TED! This collection of pieces seems like the perfect variety of antidotes to some of the serious and mind-blowing talks at the conference.

Thank you for giving us this glimpse. Sounds like you all have an absolute blast!

Thanks Thomas. Fun & foot tapping pieces.

Pedant alert (sorry): Isn’t “I’ve Seen That Face Before” actually “Libertango” by Astor Piazolla.

Now off in search of a life…

I’ve been a lurker since 2006. I just wanted to come out of the woodwork to offer a hearty and sincere thank you, Thomas. You have brought nothing but joy to me since 1982. I was able to see you at your First Avenue gig in Minneapolis in 1984, and enjoyed meeting you on your 2006 tour in Milwaukee. I have no doubt that your playing is sorely missed at this year’s TED.

The music you posted today has brightened up a dreary day in St. Paul, Minnesota.

I can’t say thank you enough, but am glad for this small opportunity to at least try. Now, I suppose I’ll fade back into the wall… take care all! :)

Hey, if you want to pay for the bandwidth, more power to you, I guess. Thanks for putting this up.

    A joy! Plain and simple.

Thanks for sharing this with us. Really nice recording too. Was this all taken straight off the house desk?

    Cheers,
    Andrew

  8. TMDR says:

No, it was recorded to ProTools, and I spent a few hours remixing it after the fact. But I drew the line at ‘fixing’ stuff, even if I’d had the time to do it!

    ¡Correcto!

Thanks a bunch! Sounds great. :)

    Thomas, THANK YOU for this!

My favorite is War Games. I’m not sure why. La Bombe is really interesting, too. Whose (re)arrangement? Yours?

I never knew I was a fan of French Bluegrass. :)

  12. Lots of fun, and the first addition to my MP3 library that left me stumped re: “Genre.” Congrats! ;)

  13. White City says:

That was a real treat and a great way to start the weekend!

    Hell! I’d go!

    Thanks very much for that.

I’m sorry, am I missing something here? There doesn’t appear to be a link to “one Mp3″ as stated. was the link removed? I’m registered obviously… but this appears to make no difference. A little help?
