Re-release news?

Sources close to EMI Records have revealed the company’s intention to revive its ailing market share by releasing three Thomas Dolby albums in close succession! In the Spring of 2009 EMI plans to release a CD containing all Dolby’s single releases, from ‘Urges’ all the way through to ‘Silk Pyjamas’, in sequencial order. A month later, remastered versions of Dolby’s first two albums will also hit the shelves, along with B-sides and other rarities, plus a quantity of promotional video footage on DVD, some of it also extemely rare.

Unconfirmed rumours will have us believe that Dolby’s first brand-new studio album in nearly 18 years will follow shortly thereafter! (Wind and tides permitting.)

Merry Christmas, everyone! While these releases won’t hit shelves (real or virtual) until the Spring, official news of their impending arrival is a great xmas gift unto itself. God bless us, everyone (EMI, too)!

One always worries what “shortly thereafter” means to a man who’s waited 18 years between releases! And now I feel old, too. :)

    Excellent news.

I’m particularly keen to hear the new album.

As far as the remastering goes, will this finally correct the track ordering on The Golden Age of Wirelesss (i.e. not having She Blinding Me With Science first) and restore The Wreck of the Fairchild?

Also, any chance of some review copies?

Excellent news :) Just the thing to chase the remains of this cold away.

What with this and the continuing Ultravox goodies, the cube people are getting really rather excited. Loved “The Singular Thomas Dolby” name for the singles album too – spot on, except no alternatives ;)

Seasonal best wishes to Tom and the Dolby Clan. (Hmmm, sounds like one of those 70′s gang show cartoons).

I have been waiting for years to have remastered editions of these albums. I am praying for cleaned up versions of all the b-sides, especially the guitar version of “Radio Silence.” And that DVD is long overdue!

This single compilation sounds intriguing. I wonder how it will differ from the various and sundry compilations already on the market.

  15. Steven LeBeau says:

I really hope this has the guitar version of “Radio Silence” and the version of Airwaves without the bridge!
