A wonderful afternoon working on an a trusty old tune that has not lost any of its lustre. Then spent a frustrating five hours in my shed trying to track down a technical problem that was making the bass come and go. Turned out the culprit was (il)Logic. Finally getting to bed ar 3.15am, not a moment too soon as I have six hours of media interviews scheduled for tomorrow.
These are mostly local papers in the towns where I’m gigging. There are several radio stations lined up now too over the next couple of weeks, and I was even offered a late night TV show, but I turned it down. They seem very inquisitive about this K-Fed sampling thing. Quite ironic that this is more newsworthy than the fact I’m returning to the stage after 15 years away! I can afford to be selective, as I’ve got no record to promote just now and no record company breathing down my neck.
In the old days I used to often do 10 or 12 interviews back to back. You soon lose all sight of what you really think, and just start to sputter out the same answers to the same questions–sometimes forgetting if you’ve already used a certain phrase with this guy, or was it the the last one?
It’ll be very interesting to see what they want to talk about. I’m feeling fresh and un-jaded so hopefully we can just focus on the positive stuff. It will help the tour, though at the rate tickets are selling we don’t really need any more publicity, as many of the dates are close to sold out already. But not everybody that wants to come is going to be able to make it, so at least they’ll be able to read about it in the papers.

Thomas, I really hope you make it to the KEXP studios in Seattle when you’re up here. It’d be fabulous to hear you over the airwaves and the dj’s there (take your pick) are first rate. Way better than that crusty ol’ Richard Blade down in La La land!! Ha ha!!

That would be me. I suppose I should take solace in the fact that I’ve seen you play twice before….first during the Flat Earth tour (at Irvine Meadows, now Verizon Amphitheater), and again during the pre-Aliens era with the Lost Toy People (at the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano). By the way…I was seated front and dead center for the latter show and could see up your shorts.

I have been listening to your old stuff since I found out you are up and out again. The original UK release of G Aof W was a great track listing.
Well I’ve got my ticket to see you at the O2 Wireless gig for the first time live. First time I saw you anywhere was on Top of the Pops playing ‘Windpower’ with fancy smoke and wind machines, quite high tech for the Beeb in those days.
Wireless…….. ironic that your stuff needs loads of wire and your retern to the uk is at the Wireless Festival!!

I hope your interviews went well.. I’ve only caught one so far and that was on MTV news. Of course it was about the Federline incident.. hopefully I’ll catch more interviews about you and the tour!
