LA to Austin

Last night we played the Henry Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. The challenge was to get the bus to Phoenix, AZ in time to put me onto a 7.40am plane. So we were offstage at 11.15; bus was completely loaded by midnight; driver showed up and we were out of there at 12.30am. Now it’s 6.45am and we’re in heavy traffic approaching downtown Phoenix, and I’m nervous I’m going to miss my plane! Which could make life very interesting, as almost all flights into Austin are booked because of SxSW. I would stay on the bus, only I have a 6.30am date tomorrow at a TV show in Austin tomorrow morning. And we lose 2 hrs because of time zones. The bus could only make it there by that time if the driver went with no rest, which is unsafe.

I’ll let you know how it turns out!

The show you did last night at the Henry Fonda Theater was so amazing. I am always thrilled to see you do “I Live In A Suitcase” live. Many more thanks for “Ferrari” and “Airwaves!” I snapped some amazing pictures of the show, as I was stageside next to the Airwaves cheering squad, and will probably post them to my DeviantArt and The Flat Earth Society for all to see. Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH for making my week!

Please actually stop in Phoenix. It would be great to actually see one of your performances after listening to you from almost the beginning. I wish I was there – awesom.

Holy crap your show was great! I didn’t expect you to do a full set. I had heard that you were only going to do 3 songs. I was so very pleasantly surprised. Around 7:30 or so, I was standing next to you when the first artist was performing. I couldn’t get up the nerve to say hello. I really wish I had taken advantage of that opportunity. I’ll probably regret it for a long time. :) Thank you for such an inspiring and uplifting show. I’ve been a serious fan for a long, long time. WONDERFUL SHOW!!!! Thank you. Billy

Excellent show at the Fonda. Your intro for Suitcase was cool and very sweet. Thanks for sharing the anniversary of your first date with us. (And thanks to Kathleen as well.) I also enjoyed your intro to Your Karma…
I had gotten the impression that you think of She Blinded Me With Science as somewhat fluffy pop stuff, maybe I’m mistaken about that, but boy did you seem to have a blast performing it last night!
Listening to you jamming with the Jazz Mafia got me wondering, have you put together a Sole Inhabitant version of May The Cube Be With You?
Anyway, great show. I hope we (the audience) made up for our limited numbers with our enthusiasm.

billybrooks, I cannot and should not speak for Thomas, but I believe you absolutely did the right thing by not saying anything to Thomas while he was watching the other performer. Think how it would be if someone started up a conversation with you while you were watching Thomas’ set? I hope this thought will ease some of the regret that you feel. Hopefully, now that Thomas is publicly active again, you will have a chance to meet him in the future.

Jdmack, I understand where you’re coming from. I live in Hollywood and see celebs all the time. I never approach them because I try to respect their privacy. However, seeing that this was a private siggraph event for technofiles, I was torn between wanting to respect his privacy and briefly talking music tech. I was hoping to find him after the show but as he stated, he had to bolt. Thomas, if you’re reading this…I’m still in a good mood from your show!
