New podcast online!
The last and final ‘bonus’ podcast of the Sole Inhabitant era is currently online! It was shot by Jon Luini of Chime Interactive at our release party at the Red Devil Lounge in San Francisco back in November. It features some rehearsal footage with my new brass section; a guest spot by a member of Smash Mouth; and interviews with some Dolby fans outside the venue. But beware–it’s 23 mins long and 123Mb in size, so be VERY patient while your browser downloads it. (It took about 43 minutes on my DSL wi-fi network!)
All you yuppie metrosexuals out there, it’s just about the right length to load onto your video iPod before a good workout on the elliptical treadmill.
Thank-you for all these goodies!
Alas… no iPod in my life. I’ll just have to do jumping jacks in front of my Mac.
Thanks for this comparitively massive podcast of you release party! The work with side musicians has added some depth to the current arrangements of songs from the tour. I have to say that my favorite part of the ‘cast are the testimonials from fans and friends outside the Red Devil. That kind of loyalty and reverence (that we all have for your music) must be so rewarding to hear.
Thanks again (and again),
Beech
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant stuff. The fan interviews were a nice touch. The guitar and horns work brilliant, the horns really do something for “Science”. “Hot Sauce” was just how I remembered it at the Scala, I love the fact that it’s got that line from “Glocksploitation” (like “Airhead”), and I love the really hardcore beat, I love that late great Barry White vocal effect, and the lazer/zapping sound closer to the end.
Good luck with the new songs, can’t wait to hear them, Retrocanary.
P.S.: “I can probably say F*** if I really wanted to” – HAHAHAHAHAHA classic
Again , thank you for anything and everyting “2006″
very different option this time…!!
Looking forward to “2007″
Cheers Mate..!!
Magic podcast.
Well worth the wait for the ‘extended’ mix!!
It’s been great to see your tour … and YOU evolve over 2006.
I’m really looking forward to the next chapter in 2007
Once again “f**king brilliant” (I think I can say that!!)
All the very best to you sir.
Cheers.
Wonderful podcase and definitely worth the wait. I really enjoyed the more informal setting of the music and I in particular Greg’s playing in Budapest. I have to say my absolute favourite section of the podcast is actually your piece to camera from the depths of the Shed. Its fantastic to see you so enthused and clearly as excited as we all are about what the future holds musically.
If you do get the time to come up for air, more podcasts just to say hello would be more than welcome.
In 2006 your musical resurgence inspired me to start playing and writing again after 9 years of spending too many hours devoted to my day job. 2007 was jump started for me with the birth of my second son (George Thomas). Here’s hoping 2007 is as joyful for you and all your fans as it has been for me already!
Cheers,
Andrew
P.S. Do you have any objection to fans posting their own interpretations of your music in the forum?
Thomas, the “Party” podcast is FANTASTIC, thank you so much,
That marvellous podcast
and huge thanks to Jon Luini as well!
was well and truly worth the wait.
Ahhh, what can I say…I loved the little snippet of “May the Cube
beat. Yummy.
Be With You”, near the beginning, with that hot reggae {at least
I *think* that’s a form of reggae! What do I know, I’m a white
Canadian gal.}
Jazz Mafia blended wonderfully into “SBMWS”–the combination
of electronic music and live brass isn’t quite as startling as I
thought it would be. And “Hot Sauce” was deeeeelicious! It
sounded like Paul van Dyk meets Chicago (the band, not the city, hee hee). In general, f**ckin’ awesome! Oops, did I write that
out *loud*?! “It’s my podcast, I can cuss if I want to, cuss if
I want to…” [apologies to Leslie Gore, of course]
Peace and warmest hopes that you wrangle magnificent
musical order from chaos with exhilarating ease,
Kara {that’s my legal name, so I just have to live with it, heh.}
p.s. Alliteration rules!!
Ooohhh! Budapest gave me chills. I love that song anyway, but I really loved this version, even better than the concerts I saw. I think this may be my favorite version of Science. The horns were great!! Thanks, as always, for this.
Gosh, Thomas, you are welcome (for going to your concerts, for buying your t-shirts, CDs, and DVD’s, and anything else I could get my paws on in 2006).
Lastly the, ahem, “F word’ is usually a big no-no with me, but you had me laughing out loud! I even called my husband in to see that part. He wondered why he can’t get away with it around me if Thomas can…
Kara, glad to see the podcast was worth the wait for you : )
Rochelle
Incredible show. Thank you for sharing! The live horns are fantastic as is everything in the podcast. Looking forward to seeing you in 2007!
Now if I can just figure out how to get the podcast on my iPod I can hit the elliptical machine.
What a cracker that was!
We waited and waited and waited but sheesh it was worth it. You seemed to be having a great time playing with a few heart-beats instead of synch-pulsers to keep you company on stage!
Looking forward to the order from the chaos. What a year 2006 was for all of us. Hard to imagine that you have come back so strong after such a long absence. If our enthusiasm for your work inspires you then the forthcoming additions to the Dolby catalogue are going to be the best yet!
Keep it up.
Jon
Fantastic Podcasts, Thomas! The DVD Release Party was a spectacular way to end the series!
Looking forward to your new music… Come back to the Birchmere soon!
Rock that synth!
Monica
Hey TD! I cant listen to it until this weeked as I only have an at work computer, and it wont let me check out your podcasts for some reason, then there’s the length issue. but ….
“All you yuppie metrosexuals out there, it’s just about the right length to load onto your video iPod before a good workout on the elliptical treadmill. ”
You sir, are a wit!
Thanks for that Thomas, mindblowing!
