write a review for 'The Sole Inhabitant'!
Hey, if you’ve heard/seen The Sole Inhabitant you could do me a big favour if you’d write a review and post it online. Spread the word! Here are some URLs:

Ta very much.
You got it Chief…
I’m watching the sublime DVD right now. This is the first time I’ve ever wanted to applaud a recording. Just watching Budapest is worth the price. I kept finding myself with this huge grin on my face. Not only for you and your fans but for art, as in the state of. We saw you at the Red Devil in January and get to see you again on Wednesday in Austin. The DVD is polished and showcases your creative mind at work. Wonderful performance, editing and compilation. But I’ll save it for amazon and cdbaby and itunes. Thank you!
I wrote a review on iTunes a few hours after downloading the tracks when they became available. My very first iTunes review. My autographed DVD arrived today (thank you, Thomas and CD Baby!) and I’ll be happy to offer up reviews for Amazon and CD Baby as soon as I’ve had the chance to enjoy it!
In the process of writing one on iTunes.
Glad to help!
Consider yourself reviewed, Mr. Dolby. It was an honor and a privilege to add my voice to what hopefully become many on the reviews pages of CDBaby and Amazon!

I reviewed the album on the iTunes music store, where I bought it. I stated, quite simply, that this is the first time I’ve ever heard a live album where every single song was better than the studio version.
I didn’t write about my two daughters (7.5 & 4.5) who both wanted copies burned to CD so they could listen to the songs while falling asleep at night (while this might sound inane, it requires seriously good music to pass the ‘listen to it while going to sleep’ test)….
I’d love to write a review, but it’s impossible for me to keep it short once I start typing…
I bought the (autographed) CD at the Tucson show, and I love the live versions. I just bought an autographed DVD off of CDBaby. I’ve seen many comments applauding the added material, so I figured I’d best check them out myself. Maybe once I’ve had a chance to view the DVD I’ll take the plunge and write up a combined review.
To give you an idea of how sales on CDBaby may be going – the unsigned DVDs are sold out already! Well done, and well deserved!
BTW, I’m sorry you got sick in/on the road to Tucson. This used to be the place people came to to get well… I’m glad you’re all on the mend, and hope you stay well for the rest of the tour.
Done and done. Posted under “Airwaves23″ on iTunes, pending review. Feel better soon!
Darn, can’t edit a comment – oh well. Just posted the same review on Amazon. Sorry for the repeat comment.

I just received the autographed DVD and CD today, only to have my dad spill dishwater all over the DVD case!! Sorry, Mr. Dolby, but the DVD cover to #155 is in rough shape. So I ordered another autographed DVD on CDBaby……can’t afford it at the time, but fug it, you only live once…….
Have watched about half of the DVD tonight on my new plasma – everything I thought it would be. It is so nice to see you Thomas back in music again. I remember when he came out in the early 80′s, but I only got into Dolby’s stuff when Astronauts came out – and then he retired! I admire Thomas the person (telling the record companies to take a hike, starting Beatnik) as much as his music. Flat Earth is amazing, though too short. I sent Thomas an email when he was at Headspace begging him to get back into music – never heard back though (he must’ve been in a meeting). So great ot hear there is more new music on the way!! Can’t wait. Keep it Thomas – come to Vegas!
Done and done at CD-Baby for both. The CD has been rocking my iPod and the DVD has been rocking my TV. Both of my kids stopped to watch while I had it on this weekend and both asked “Is that Thomas Dolby?”
Amazon has been informed of my (glowing) opinions…

I am very proud of the fact that I was the first to write a review on i-Tunes the day it came out. I hope both CD and DVD are doing well in sales. I like to see you reaping the benefits of your hard work.

My autographed copy is due any day now, but can anyone comment on screen ratio and sound format?
Many thanks
Mission accomplished Sir! And I hope the 4 others who found my review helpful immediately downloaded the album as I did.
First Mate to Bridge……..Budapest Dead Ahead
My CD review is up and posted on Amazon.com. Hope this helps. See you in Dallas on Thursday!
Valen: the video seems to be in standard 4:3 format. My HD projector lets me blow it up to 16×9 so it fills the screen. TMDR looks like he’s added a few pounds when the image is stretched, but you really feel like you are at the show. As for sound, I haven’t quite figured that out. I listened to it in ProLogic and it sounded better than normal stereo mode but that could be my speaker set-up too. I know it isn’t 5.1 surround.
Enjoy the DVD as it is fatastic!

CD Baby keeps insisting the “autographed CD hasn’t been released yet”….anyone else running into this issue?? I paid for it the day of the scheduled release, but so far, no-go….very Sex Pistols-ish !!
At least the samples posted on CDBaby sound good !
Just watched the whole DVD. End to end. Thank you Thomas. Will post reviews as requested. Couple of observations that spring to mind after watching the DVD interview. One is tinged is regret in as much that you sadly never realised that your music had connected with an audience in the UK. I now wish I could have somehow made you aware of just how important The Flat Earth was to a whole generation of people in Benfleet, Essex 1984. A seminal album that defined a very important summer for me and those closest. The second is the joy in having your view of the Scala gig. I was there in the audience as was my best friend of the past 25 years who shared all the albums as they were released. It was he who turned me onto your music when he came back from a 3 month stint in Saudi where his late father worked for the Royal family. It was a cassette of the GAOW, complete with the guitar version of Radio Silence that started my love of your music. Don’t rush the next chapter. Take your time and get it right. Get well soon. West Ham Vs Wigan tomorrow night with my ten year old at Upton park. Life doesn’t get any sweeter. All the best.
Shane: The audio CD is on “back order”, meaning the delay of the signed inserts is holding up the release. Fret not, I await mine arriving. But I got my DVD today (#232, thanks Thomas!) and couldn’t have been happier. The Boston show was wonderful! While I’m glad to have even seen Thomas live in PDX, it was early in the tour. As issues were worked out along the way and things added, it looks like it just got better. I mentioned it the other day, but I hope for another romp through the Northwest with an expanded playlist, and maybe new material.
I wrote a review today on blog:

My podcast interview with Thomas will be online next week!
My wife and I had an amazing time at the show tonight (in Norfolk). It was a dream come true for us and an awesome way to spend our 14th wedding anniversary!
A logical continuation of Dolby’s musical evolution…
Thomas Dolby’s (TMDR) Sole Inhabitant project is a brilliant reinvention & rejuvenation of the never-ending evolution of Dolby’s musical influence. Dynamic & powerful performances abound on both the CD & DVD, which closely examines (& often self analyzes) his MO on both composing & performing. An illuminating & (often informally) entertaining offering from a TRUE original! For ALL fans of music, not just TMDR’s! 5 Stars! [Reviewer: dirtydatsun]
