It doesn't get much quainter than this…

I think this has to be one of the sweetest venues I’ve ever played. It’s the Tupelo Ballroom in Londonderry, NH.

Tonight’s gig at the Iron Horse in Northampton was excellent as well. Everything just seemed to fall into place. Also a very sweet town, and a warm sellout crowd. New Englanders are spoiled for fine architecture, and the fall colours are just starting to appear along the roadside, which we don’t have in California.

My only regret about tonight was that I came offstage, ravenous, got back to the dressing room and scoffed half of a chicken sandwich that poor Darin (my keyboard tech) had been saving especially!

I can’t imagine Eminem has these problems.

What a picturesque place. You could almost write a song about it. Glad the show went well.

BTW, how was the Black and White Ball? I had to work an auction a stone’s throw from there, so I couldn’t make it to that. Hope to make another show in the near future.

    Hello Thomas,

Great to hear the tour is going great. I am going to see you on Friday in New York.

I am very excited to see you live for the very first time. My best friend in High School gave me “The Flat Earth” when I was 14 years old. It is still my favorite album of all times (especially “Screen Kiss”).

I wanted to see you live ever since. It never happened.

Now I am 36. And after 21 years I finally get to see you.

    Can’t wait for Friday.

    Best wishes,

    Thorsten

I was at the Iron Horse show. It was a whole lot of fun from the audience side of the house.

Also, I liked the modification on the logo of the truck parked outside.

Hi, I was at the Iron Horse last night. You were great!! I really liked how you told us the background on why you wrote some of your songs. I love Wind Power and was wondering what the story was on that one.

We’re glad to see you are touring again!

Was at the Iron Horse in Northampton, MA with my 4 year old son, Nicholas, last night. He was the little guy on the balcony with the blinking sneakers. We met a little 5 year old girl there with her mom and we all had a blast. Tried to dance as much as we could in the limited space, but had a great time dancing and singing all the way back to the car. Nicholas was singing “Hot Sauce” all night!

The Iron Horse show was a true gift. What a treat to see and hear TD perform some of my favourite music – familiar but updated, energetic and melodic, brilliant as always. Thanks for giving us your stories, both then and now. Best of luck with the rest of the tour and keep those synthesizer knobs noodling.

What a beautiful place! It almost looks as if you could play, and then go up to bed. :)

  10. rickymswife says:

    lol! right on MiniCoop.
Isn’t it a great thing that you get to go around the country to these small venues and just play…I am so looking forward to the Cerritos gig in November. I was listening to Forty this morning and just love the intimate nature of the recording. You really are blessed!
    Thanks again

Yes, it does look like a bed and breakfast inn. Very quaint, indeed. BTW, you might want to travel with some munchies for yourself so you don’t have to scoff others vittles! Take care.

Argh! You need better/ more publicity. I live a half hour from Northampton ( where the Iron Horse is ) and only found out you were playing when I was picking up a new copy of ‘aliens ate my buick’ yesterday.
I am sorry to say I had obligations ( a little boy who had not had a nap, and who NEEDED some sleep) and missed your show. I have already heard it was a great show and hope to catch you next time you come through.

  13. Mike Mnemonic says:

Hi Thomas. I’m from Northampton in “Old” England. I was luckly to see you at the Scala (lets see how many people we can cram in a small room without the health and safety brigade noticing) gig. Most excellent! I saw you once before at the RoadMender Club in Northampton at the time of AAMB. The question for which I need an answer is … How on earth did you end up in Northampton. Did you get off the M1 15 junctions early by mistake ? Keep up the good work.

    Kindest regards

    Mike

  14. You can’t beat lovely little towns like that. Very nice indeed!

Aah well, you gotta eat, I’m sure Darin wont of minded sharing!

All the best to you and crew,
    Lyndsey

I was at the show at the Tupelo a couple of days ago. I agree, what a great venue. Only thing I didn’t realize was that it was BYOB :( . Anyway, it was a great set, I introduced a friend to your music at that show, he was especially taken by “windpower” and the solar visuals. I sent him my original copy of “Golden Age” for him to listen to, I think you have a new fan in him! Anyway I hope you go the MPD patch I gave to one of the roadies! Keep up the great work, I look forward to attending more shows.

I’ll see you tomorrow at the Canal Room with a group of friends. I can’t wait. My 19 year old daughter saw you tonight in Boston and loved the show. My 16 year old is devastated she can’t join us at the Canal Room (21 and over only). They’ve grown up listening to your music at our parties and are huge fans.

  17. invectiva says:

Wonderful show at Berklee last night. A much more sedate crowd than I’d expect at that venue (such rabid fans we are, of the synthesis, not just the final product), but from about the middle of the orchestra section on back, we were shaking our booties. Thanks for requiring us to stand up. ;)

You probably couldn’t hear it, but everyone behind me was singing to you through the whole show.

Very psyched about the plans for new material; I’ve worn grooves into multiple hard drives listening to my mp3s of everything I’ve ever been able to find of yours on CD. I think it’s fantastic that you’ve decided to return to the music world. Even though I know you didn’t do it expressly for *me*, thank you. :)

  18. old techno says:

I was at the Tupelo show. I was one of the ones with my album in hand. I also had my 8 and 10 year old sons with me . They love your music!

  19. Darn! I only JUST found out about the Iron Horse gig. I live close by — and I would have *loved* to see you in such a small cozy venue. I saw your show in Paris in 1984 and it’s one of the BEST concerts I’ve been to.

    darn darn darn.

will download the album from iTunes forthwith. (couldn’t do that in ’84…)

  20. hello, good idea…

  21. Maces says:

I too was there at the Roadmender club in Northampton UK and right up the front in this packed tiny venue. Then, to make it even more special Thomas very kindly signed my Flat Earth CD after the show which I just adore. Its songs have always haunted me and is never rarely out of my CD player. Going to trace down the re masted version asap
I thought that the AAMB performance was ecstatic and I count myself very fortunate to have been there and have heard such excellent musicality.
    Thank you Thomas
