My talented crew
I have an insanely talented team working on my upcoming tour. Let me take a second to introduce them:
Darin Dahlinger is my brilliant keyboard tech, who can solder a broken cord, calibrate a 24 track tape recorder, or even create a 4 voice polyphonic ringtone while keeping on a happy face at all times. In short, he is way overqualified for this gig.
Dominik Fusina designed the artwork for the tour, including the image on my home page and some excellent t-shirts and a poster. These are not quite ready to debut yet, but they will be on sale at my gigs. Here’s one of his 3D images that I like, though he’s equally at home designing web sites or making interactive music applications:
My webmistress, merchandizing vendor AND tour manager is Lunesse, aka Carli Schultz Kruse. Right now she’s busy booking hotels and flights, as well as redesigning my web site, which will get a total makeover in the next couple of weeks. In the midst of all that she still finds time to make beautiful beads and metalwork that she sells from her own site, such as this one below: wow!
I will also be taking video on the tour, courtesy of ace VJs Johnny DeKam and Brian Ziffer. It’ll be a combination of live cams plus ‘canned’ footage.
Gustavo Lanzas is an electronic/acoustic musician and tech wizard who gutted my vintage oscilloscopes and retrofitted them for MIDI. Check out his music on MySpace. Here are a couple of the infernal machines he’s been modifying for me (more about these in a future blog):
All in all I’ve got a truly a remarkable team pulling for me, and I feel very fortunate. Everybody’s working flat out with now only 2 weeks till the first gig… this is getting exciting!
I’m going to be so upset if I cant get out to see your show. I’m aiming for the Cleveland show… depends on work.

Doesn’t look like I’ll be able to make any shows on this leg of the tour unfortunately. Having met most of them, you are surrounded by good people, I know you’ll have a great time. Best of luck on the tour.

This is going to be a great show and it sounds as if you have a strong crew behind you. Lunesse has been awesome in communication with your fans and we are all looking forward to seeing the new site.
My wife and I saw you in Anaheim, and we are flying to DC to see a couple of your shows in May. We are looking forward to seeing you again. I may even sneak out and fly to Chicago for one of the mid-May shows if I can sneak away from work for two more days.

The last time I saw your show was in 1988 at the Roxy in Hollywood. I had just injured my knee that night before leaving for the show. (Quickly wrapped it up and jumped in the car.) After standing through the opening act I was in quite a bit of pain and asked the security guard if I could sit on the corner edge of the stage till the show started (it was all gen. admission). Once the show started, they never asked me to move and I got the best front row view ever! I just hope you weren’t too annoyed with my sharing the stage with you.
Now I have tix to the show on April 13 in Hollywood. Funny thing is, I just injured my other knee a few months ago and am still rehabbing it. So I’m hoping to get there early and find some side seat so I don’t have to encrouch upon your territory again.
I love those oscilloscopes! Things like that are one of the main reasons I love your work. The mixing of eras in technology and design; loving the beauty of the antique while adapting it for modern use; decayed objects of the past finding new life.

You’ve been much missed, but NEVER forgotten. Its so great that you’re back and touring. I’m coming over to US in a few weeks – SF/LA area – but it’s badly mistimed as you’re on the east coast then! Ah, c’est la vie!
Hopefully I’ll be at the Wireless Festival gig in June anyway. Its only been a wait of 22 years since my last TMDR gig!

I have waited, it seems a lifetime to see you live, never having had a chance in the day, I have followed you ever since I got a Lena Lovitch album and said “Who the f**k is this guy Dolby on keyboards!”
My copy of GAoW just plain wore out, and Aliens is just a masterpiece! I got that album at the same time as Was not Was – What up Dog and they hold a special place and time for me, two albums that have such strong material and musicianship, they are magic.
And “Forty”, how I wished I was there at either gigs, one of my favorite vocal warmups is to sing along with “Screen Kiss” just beautiful.
I just got tickets for Joe’s Pub on the 4th and will be travelling down from Rhode Island with my family. I am so happy that I can take my kids to see you, and cannot express my thanks that you have chosen to tour once again. I am a musician myself so I know that the life on the road is very hard and far from glamourous, so again my profuse thanks.
May you tour go well, with minimal snafu’s
and may the benevolent presence of the creative impulse take you into it’s confidence.
