PlayItForward

I was invited to take part in an MSNBC panel show entitled PlayItForward, where pundits and futurists get on their soapboxes about various current issues relating to technology, music etc. and the audience gets to vote on who they agree with. Shockingly, my views are not nearly as popular as those of a sexy 26 yr old national tech TV show hostess! The only possibly reason I can think of is that she has enlisted the help of her fan community to jack up her votes. So if you’ve got a moment (and if you agree with what I’m saying, of course) please visit one of these URLs and vote for me!

I had to laugh as yet again you got introduced as “…known for the smash hit ‘She Blinded Me With Science’..”.

Your face said it all with a dead pan expression, only your inner turmoil was highlighted by a raised ‘Spock like’ eyebrow.

definitely a facial ‘ tick’ going on there at the mention of it

Well I can see why she’s got the most votes.

Thomas was first to go and so people were paying attention. Then came Sheila E. and we’re all wondering about how she’s aging. Next up was potential future C.A. D.A. guy and we’re all bored. But then comes miss smiley and we know she’s last so everyone starts to wake up again.

She actually said NOTHING about future technology but had an ace up her sleeve – she turned the word “fiend” into a verb. “We fiend for instant gratification….”. Pushing the English language into unknown territory isn’t just talking about the future it’s making it by God!

    She got my vote.

BTW, I’m positively fiending for the next EP Thomas.

Done. It was interesting to hear all of the views. I’m now curious as to which piece was the one Mozart transcribed from the Vatican?

Of particular interest to me was during the discussion on Virtual Validation, Dr. Olsen’s analogy of an ADD child using video games to get validation that may not be available to him otherwise.

Up from 313 to 1447 votes, common sense wins the day. It doesn’t seem as if anyone else gained any more votes at all. The superficial crowd has moved on – as is their way.

Well there you go, the power of the internet and your philosophy on how to enthuse your fans so you can have the last word. Not a criticism just an observation. Quite staggering.

    Voted early, and often. ;-p

I think Marienela talked in a few too many sound bites. The very thing she thinks might prevent the next Mozart to me is the thing that will encourage the next Mozart, Hendrix, et al. in that, there’s so much more access to new bands that people have.
